The Dance Video Place is principally located in Sydney, Australia – the land of sunshine and beaches, and great dance clubs.
Our Infrastructure
We have our main location in Sydney, but multiple multiple server and data centres (forming a sophisticated Content Distribution Network ) located in Australia, Asia, North & South America, and Europe.
Why did we develop The Dance Video Place?
Well we’re nerds who build technology, but we are also DANCERS.
Between us, we dance over 20 different styles. Some of us have come up in the formal dance school structures, some directly from the Clubs, others from family or heritage sources.
We realised that between us we had literally dozens of “how to dance” DVDs and even some VHS tapes (we know, we know . . .). This realisation included that some of us couldn’t even use these form of media anymore, as the players had long since been donated to the opportunity shops.
In reality, DVDs and video tapes have gone the way of the Dodo – just ask Blockbuster Video.
As we’re nerds, we were aware of on line lessons, but the time and energy necessary to locate just the right style, something new, or that special move, was tiresome and time consuming.
This was especially obvious during COVID lock downs. Spending hours on line for just the right media.
What would happen if we could bring all the dance lessons into a single, quality environment, where quality media could be shared via the internet, in a convenient, secure and cost effective way?
